1) You need a substantial music stand. As you become more experienced, you'll need a number of music books on your stand. You should have space for a scale book, your music book, your grade book if you're doing grades and any space for a chromatic tuner.
2) Service your flute yearly. The screws will get battered and you know if you're playing a lot because if you are, at the yearly mark, your flute will probably stop playing certain notes.This could also be that your flute is just bad... so check it isn't the latter!
